DoubleEye in the Akazienkiez opens at 8:19 am and closes at 6:29 pm; on Saturdays it's 8:33 and 5:57. Arno Schmeil opened the tiny espresso bar in 2001, making it one of the oldest specialty coffee addresses in Berlin. Schmeil has won barista championships, visits coffee farmers and traders and keeps trying new coffees and methods.

The room is small and the queue outside is often long. There is espresso and milk coffee in every variation, plus cold drip and iced espresso, with pastries and custard tarts from the display. The house blend and changing roasts are available as whole beans to take home. Given the quality, the prices are low.
