About Eat This
All I really wanted to know was where to eat well in Berlin. Then things escalated a little.
I like good food, good drinks and places I end up telling everyone about, unprompted.
Finding good recommendations isn't the problem these days. They're everywhere: on Instagram, TikTok, in Google Maps, in WhatsApp messages, or in notes I saved at some point and long forgot.
The problem is keeping track of them.
Where are we eating today?
Even in Berlin it happens to me all the time. I save a restaurant from a reel, get a tip from friends, or read about a new opening. Over time, hundreds of recommendations pile up – and still I end up at the same question: Where are we eating today?
It became most obvious when travelling. For Tokyo I had collected recommendations from all kinds of sources. Once there, I spent more time hunting them down and piecing together their addresses than actually eating. Many were scattered right across the city; with others I no longer knew why I had saved them in the first place. In the end I made it to hardly any of them.
I wanted an app that tells me: go here, it's good, and it's right around the corner.
What makes it onto the map
I collect places I would recommend myself and make them visible on a map. I chose every spot deliberately. Some hold a Michelin star, others are small hidden places you would probably never discover without a recommendation.
If a place is on the map, I'm convinced it's worth a visit.
Why trading cards?
Because discovering is more fun than searching.
As a kid I collected Panini stickers, traded wrestling cards and tried to find all 151 Pokémon. That feeling of discovering something new and watching your collection grow never left.
That's why every Must Eat on Eat This is a card. Some cards are visible right away. Others stay hidden and are only revealed when you get close to them.
You can search for something specific – just ask Remy what you're in the mood for. Or head out and discover for yourself.
Berlin is the beginning
This is where the first recommendations come from. More cities will follow.
Eat This is a small project from Berlin – born out of a love for good food, new discoveries and honest recommendations.
