Cocktail bar by the Stadtbad Neukölln: a weekly changing menu built on plants foraged around Berlin, twice Bar of the Year.

Velvet on Ganghoferstraße, right by the Stadtbad Neukölln, opened in 2013 as one of the first cocktail bars in the district. Today it is known for a menu that changes every week depending on what is growing around Berlin. The team gathers plants on regular foraging trips in and around the city and turns them into distillates, infusions and ferments on a dedicated lab day. That is why the bar is closed on Tuesdays.

Into the glasses go black locust blossoms, yarrow, spruce tips or elderflower, combined with light spirits, sake, Madeira, sherry and dry vermouth so the plants set the tone. You sit in quilted booths. Velvet was named Germany's Bar of the Year at the Mixology Bar Awards in 2019 and 2023.
