Hasir at Kottbusser Tor, the flagship since 1984: döner from the spit at the window, a grill restaurant inside.

Hasir on Adalbertstraße, just past the archway at Kottbusser Tor, is one of the best-known Turkish restaurants in Berlin. Mehmet Aygün opened it in 1984, and his family is often linked to the story of the döner in bread. Who actually invented it is disputed, though. Hasir has since grown into a small group of restaurants, and Adalbertstraße is its flagship.

The döner spit here is considered one of the best in the district. You order at the window outside and eat at the tables by the door or inside in the restaurant, where dishes from the grill come to the table too. Open late into the night.
