Café and micro-bakery on Karl-Marx-Straße with an evening pizza window in the courtyard: cardamom buns, bostocks and sourdough pizza.

Maximilian Korrenz-Lemke worked in Berlin and Copenhagen before opening Common on Karl-Marx-Straße in June 2025: café and micro-bakery by day, a pizza window in the courtyard at night. He designed the space with Thalea Schmalenberg, with warm reds, wood and design pieces from Germany and Denmark, spread over two rooms, one darker and one bright.

The coffee comes from August 63, and baking happens in-house every day: cardamom buns, cinnamon swirls, sourdough brioches and bostocks, plus rye sandwiches with North Sea cheese and seasonal galettes. In the evening the pizza window opens at the back of the courtyard with sourdough pizza, from the simple No. 1 with garlic, olive oil and parsley to No. 5 with spicy house sausage, capers, mozzarella, black pudding and bacon. Eat inside or take the pizza to Körnerpark just around the corner.
