The Wen Cheng brand by brothers Rui and Peng Gao with Valentin Spieß takes its name from a dying dialect from Zhejiang their mother speaks — the original on Schönhauser Allee 65 was named best neighbourhood restaurant in the city by Berlin Meisterköche in 2022.
The Kreuzberg branch on Spreewaldplatz, right next to Görlitzer Park, is the southern Wen Cheng variant. The pick: biang biang with aubergine, plus bao buns on the side. The menu stays narrow as at the other locations — Friday evenings the queue gets longer, otherwise it moves quickly.
