Oukan is Berlin's vegan fine-dining outpost with a clear Japanese line.
The kitchen follows Shōjin Ryōri — the centuries-old temple cuisine of Japanese Buddhism — and translates its principles onto seasonal, regional ingredients with a Berlin accent. Behind the red lacquered door in a Mitte courtyard, the room arrives like a sanctuary: dark concrete and low light, a massive bonsai anchoring the main dining hall. The six-course menu is staged with care — the signature moment is a Krause Glucke mushroom served under a glass dome that opens tableside with curling fog. Pairing runs two ways: an Asian tea program or German wines.
