When Yumi Choi and Kiduk Reus opened their café on Oderberger Straße in 2006, there was hardly any specialty coffee in Berlin. They had met in Rotterdam; Choi had studied art, Reus worked as a designer and filmmaker. Back then the shop was called Bonanza Coffee Heroes, and it is one of the city's first specialty coffee cafés.

Today Bonanza roasts its own coffee, runs several cafés in Berlin and ships beans across Europe. In its own words, it roasts for clarity, sweetness and expression. The range includes coffees such as Gogogu from Ethiopia or Almibar from Colombia. Oderberger Straße is still the original address.
