Berlin's oldest tavern, open since 1621 on Waisenstraße in Mitte.
The name traces back to a quarrel between two farmers that found its peaceful end not in court but at this table — the last instance, literally. Wood-panelled rooms, grown-in patina, no theatrics. The kitchen stays grounded in regional German cooking with a quietly modern hand. Königsberger Klopse in caper sauce show the house line: honest, precise, unfussy. In summer the evening shifts into the beer garden under old trees, one of the calmest addresses around the Klosterruine.
