A German brasserie named after the writer who lived next door and is said to have begun his novel „Das Spinnennest“ here.
Photographs and work excerpts of the namesake line the walls; the interior holds the bohemian glow of early-twentieth-century Paris — dark wood, soft lamps, tables to write at or eat at. From the menu: Schweinebraten with Bratkartoffeln, Schnitzel Wiener Art, Swabian Kässpätzle, daily specials like Rinderroulade. Beer pours from earthenware Tonkrüge, plus wine and a Korn beside the Molle. Filmmakers fill the room during the Berlinale; otherwise regulars with a manuscript — good, honest, dining and reading room at once.
