Engelbecken at the Lietzensee in Charlottenburg has held the Alpine line in Berlin’s restaurant scene since 1995 — originally opened in Kreuzberg by the namesake Engelbecken, moved in 1999 to the water on Witzlebenstraße.

Wolfgang Stoye and Stefan Vetter have built the place into the address for Wiener Schnitzel and Krustenbraten; the New York Times in 2018 named it the city’s best. Beer selection beyond the mass breweries, street terrace facing the water. Since 2017, the Schankwirtschaft runs alongside as a pure beer format.
