In the lower ballroom of a 111-year-old Berlin institution, the dancing stopped in September and the plates arrived — nostalgic German cooking inside the belly of Clärchens Ballhaus.
The set designer behind Babylon Berlin reworked the interior: a dancing-couple mural carefully exposed, reupholstered old chairs, benches that recall church pews. The chef duo plays reduced, precisely executed classics — the signature is Königsberger Klopse with mashed potato and beetroot salad. Organic sourcing, most mains under 20 euros. A mixed-age crowd, a confident bar, a cocktail list that holds its own rather than playing supporting act to the kitchen.
