Milchbar im Funkhaus
GDR broadcasting gem on the Spree in Oberschöneweide: a small menu with Königsberger Klopse and aubergine tempura, plus a terrace in summer.
Milchbar im Funkhaus is a Café restaurant in Köpenick, priced 10–20 €. Open Mon-Sun 10:00-16:00.
Inside the former East German broadcasting house on Nalepastraße sits a piece of GDR architecture that the Milchbar has preserved almost entirely.
The partly listed complex on the Spree in Oberschöneweide ranks among the largest studio sites in the world, and anyone on a guided tour tends to land here at the end. The interior slips into the building: warm wood, muted tones, the charm of a space built for the breaks of the radio staff. The menu stays small and is cooked fresh: Königsberger Klopse beside Wiener Schnitzel, with a contemporary line like aubergine tempura in between. In summer the real card: a front-row seat on the Spree.
